Grumpy Old MindManager User

MindManager 9 was released in August 2010. Some features from previous versions were omitted and people moaned including me. During this week I have missed three lost features again:

  • A working project planning tool like JCV Gantt.  See this discussion in the Mindjet Forum – Task Info operations’ behavior remain a mystery to me
  • Topic Alerts
  • Outlook Map Parts: I can use the MindManager 8 ones but frustratingly whilst opening an Outlook window for e.g. a task, it does not add the task to to the current topic.  You have to go to the Task window in Outlook, open the Add Ins Ribbon and then add the task to the map.  Made the mistake of demonstrating this to a client before Christmas thinking it was still working in MindManager 9! 🙁

Will Service Pack 2 wind the clock back and when will it appear?

What are you grumpy about?

p.s. I am also grumpy about:

  • Why some web sites bring Firefox to a grinding halt or was it the Skype Add Ins Manager.
  • Why Windows can’t remember the actual size of my extension monitor. It often uses an approximation of 1360 x 768 but it’s actually 1440 x 900.

  1. Andrew,

While I can’t say what is exactly going to be in Service Pack 2 I can tell you that we are working on one and I will release more information as it becomes available to me.

    Hi Garrett

    Thanks for the info.

What about the more substantial long term stalled functions such as the Notes editor, web and Word exports?

As always I wish to note I still do nearly everything with MindManager!

Slightly less grumpy now because Windows 7 did have the right settings for my extension monitor before I undocked it.

    Another grump:

There is no formatting tool for Sub or Super script text and if I paste Sub or Super Script text into topic text, the sub or super formatting is lost. Please can this be made possible particularly for the scientific community.

  4. Andrew,

I can’t comment on specific changes or enhancements coming, but your requests are always very helpful in the development process and I will make sure that the right people know about them. The Sub and Super script suggestion is a great one that I don’t think has ever been raised.

    Hi Garrett

As always understood and we await the next move.

The Super / Sub Script was raised in the Mindjet Forum in font format. I suspect many in the scientific community would use it as a basic filter. If you fell at that hurdle you would hear no more.
